Snow Peak: A Majestic Blend of Tradition and Innovation

Yunnan Tech and Business University's Visual Identity Design Inspired by Tibet's Potala Palace

The design team chose the architectural pillar, a basic element of hotel architecture, as the central design element. They used two-dimensional techniques to create an abstract, three-dimensional image of the Potala Palace. This design element is a significant feature of the hotel's visual identity, setting it apart from other establishments.

The hotel's location on the east side of the Potala Palace offers guests a unique experience. The well-designed viewing room allows guests to enjoy the beauty of the Potala Palace without leaving the hotel. The automatic curtains reveal the palace slowly, creating a memorable experience for guests.

The logo on all paper promotional materials is created using embossing technology. This technique uses light and shadow to create a three-dimensional effect, enhancing the visual appeal of the logo. The visual identity design is mainly used in office supplies and hotel supplies, adhering to regular sizes for consistency.

The design team faced the challenge of integrating the hotel with the complex and changeable landmark - the Potala Palace. They overcame this challenge by using a simple design language and refining the most representative design elements. The result is a logo and identification system that closely link the hotel's character with the majestic Potala Palace.

The design project, which started in March 2022 in Kunming and finished in May 2022 in Kunming, is a testament to the team's creativity and technical expertise. The Silver A' Design Award recognizes the design's outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable technical characteristics. The award also acknowledges the design's ability to evoke positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
